Scarecrow making

A big thank you to Joey and Rebecca for inviting Wharfedale Montessori down to their farm to help with some scarecrow making.

The pupils walked to and from the farm – along the river to the farm just past Barden, learning about farming and their local community along the way. Our Cabin pupils enjoyed a real and hands-on opportunity to learn about Farm to Fork and see it in action at Low House Farm on the Bolton Abbey Estate as they filled the scarecrows’ trousers and shirts and helped put the scarecrows together.

Jeremy Clarke, Principal of Wharfedale Montessori, who also participated in the scarecrow making said that it had been a brilliant and rewarding experience for the children to see their efforts being put to real use on a real farm.
