A huge thank you to Rebecca and Joey from Low House Farm for hosting visits from Cabin and Children’s House last week. We couldn’t have been given a warmer welcome and the pupils gained an immersive experience of life on a working farm. And yes! Our pupils really did get up close with Shorn Sheep and Peppa (the pregnant) pig!
We met Jersey dairy cows, watched a sheep being sheared and Peppa the pregnant pig getting belly rubs, and learned about the beef cattle and the sheep stock in the fields. We were also treated to a short but very impressive sheep dog demonstration. Armed with bags of wool and eggs in all hues of colours, the pupils returned to school informed and inspired. Located as we are on the Bolton Abbey Estate, Wharfedale Montessori School is so fortunate to have on its doorstep such supportive and friendly farmers, and we look forward very much to collaborating with Rebecca and her team again soon.
Look out for some beautiful items made using the wool at the Cabin Makers’ Market which will be held at Wharfedale Montessori School on Friday 4th July!
