New books for Wharfedale Montessori School

Children’s House and Cabin are in celebratory mood having received a delivery of new books from Usborne Publishing to enjoy. Thanks to the sponsored read a few weeks ago and the after-school book sale, the school raised enough money to place a one-off order with Usborne worth over a £1,000. A big thank you to all our parents and pupils who supported us with the New books for Wharfedale Montessori School fundraising project.

The ‘essential condition’ for child development is, in the words of Montessori, ‘freedom to act in a prepared environment where the child can be intelligently active’. Continual enrichment of our classroom environment is just one element of our approach to support our pupils in their self-chosen activity, which in a Montessori environment is the catalyst for learning. This thrilling new collection of Usborne non-fiction books as well as fiction titles offers a portal into the wider world supporting our pupils’ independent learning, curiosity and enjoyment.

The Principal, Jeremy Clarke, says he is thrilled with the success of the sponsored read which has resulted in so many new books for Wharfedale Montessori School.
