Pupils from Wharfedale Montessori celebrated World Book Day in style last week with a surprise visit for the children from Airedale Hospital and Community Charity. Wharfedale Montessori was one of the schools in North Yorkshire selected to be presented with a lovely selection of Usborne books.
Carla and Laura from the Charity presented the books to the pupils, explaining to them the important role of a hospital in a community, and the powerful source of comfort that books can bring to adults and children who find themselves in hospital. The new books are very well received and are already being explored by the children in both the Cabin and Children’s House helping to fuel our pupils’ love of learning.
We were most impressed by all the costumes and a special mention goes to Carla from Airedale Hospital and Community Charity who came dressed as the Cat in the Hat! The children had a fantastic day celebrating World Book Day and and the greater community spirit of North Yorkshire.
A big thank you from all of us at Wharfedale Montessori to Airedale Hospital and Community Charity.
